Buyer - Lingerie

We are now seeking to appoint an experienced Buyer for our Maternity Lingerie division, reporting into the Buying Manager.

The successful candidate will have significant product development and direct sourcing experience, and will be able to develop this further with our team - a definite career step! This is a challenging opportunity with definite scope for the successful candidate to operate at a strategic level.

But to be clear on what we are looking for, as a retail clothing Buyer you are:

• Commercial - Able to discuss historical and future trends with the Merchandise Team to propose the range structure, including options and price architecture for their department. You will also assess the capability of new and existing suppliers to deliver their part of the range.
• Creative - You will also work closely with the design team on creating the best and most technically sound product, buy the range according to future trends taking into account range construction, seasonal variations, buying and sourcing policies, target market, market share and, of course, your competitors.
• Negotiator - Demonstrably able to effectively negotiate prices and agree supplier contracts (in Europe and the Far East) to meet departmental targets, you place a high emphasis on product quality in liaison with Technology, and will have an understanding of working with external brands.
• Communicator - You will also liaise closely with Marketing and Visual Merchandising on product presentation in stores, the catalogue and on the web, how to sell it to the customer and how to inform the customer through additional information.
• Manager - Enthusiastic, energetic and self-motivated, you will bring with you solid experience of managing, coaching and developing people within a divisional team, as well as influencing skills to bring to bear on liaison relationships.
