Product Development Technologist - Hardlines

We are currently recruiting for a Product Development Technologist working within our Home & Travel division, reporting into the Senior Product Development Technologist. Based at our head office in Watford, the successful candidate will be responsible for the safety, quality and technical development of nursery and travel products.

Responsibilities include:

• Ensure products meet legal and safety requirements
• Manage technical development of complex products to production stage
• Ensure products meet quality and performance requirements
• Mange on time approval of products against critical path
• Benchmark products against competition to ensure best in class
• Monitor the performance of products in the market place and take action as appropriate to resolve issues and ensure customer satisfaction
  

  The role requires:

• Background in product development/engineering/manufacturing
• Knowledge of materials and construction methods for metals and plastics
• Knowledge of product safety standards and risk assessment
• Ability to project manage and meet tight deadlines
• A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a retail or manufacturing environment
• Previous experience of working with far east production
• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
