What career opportunities or progression have you enjoyed at Mothercare?

I first joined Mothercare in 1984 as a weekend sales adviser. I moved to full-time and progressed through to Store Manager working in various stores on the South coast. I left in 1996 and re-joined Mothercare in 2004 after having my daughter. Mothercare were able to offer me a part time job share position in Portsmouth, which is exactly what I wanted as I now have a young daughter.

What is it like to work in your store/department?

It is extremely busy and really hard work but personal contact with customers is really rewarding, and most important for me is working with a great team.

What training / development have you had?

Management training on re-joining, workshops, development on store visits, at area meetings and through mini-projects.

Why would you recommend Mothercare as an employer to others?

I have thoroughly enjoyed my return to Mothercare and would recommend anyone to join. Pay and benefits are very good, the atmosphere is great and the work - life balance is excellent.
